The Epilepsy Foundation Pakistan strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding epilepsy by providing range of public outreach program to diverse communities. We offer programs and services for peoples impacted by epilepsy and their families, friends and local community. Services for people living with epilepsy include support groups and therapy.
About 180000 people suffer from epilepsy in Pakistan, but according to surveys less then a third seek medical advise though this is a treatable disease in up-to 70 %. Also there is a miserable stigma associated with this disease resulting in social isolation. parents of children panic on hearing the diagnosis and over protect their kids causing decreased self esteem and school dropouts and a variety of psychiatric issues.
